In 1941, during the World War II, the United States Government enlisted the automoble manufacturers in the production of military vehicles and airplanes. By law, all new vehicles at Wyman Motors had to be placed in storage and could not be sold unless given special promission from the government. Since the retail automotive business had been put on hold, Bill Wyman converted his dealership into a machine shop which produced military contract work from 1941 to 1945.

When the Ford Motor Company resumed the production of vehicles
for the general public, Wyman Motors returned to the sales and servicing of motor vehicles. During the same period, the dealership facilities on Springfield Avenue, in Maplewood, had been expanded several times and the dealership name became Wyman Ford.

In September of 1963, Lee Horner Sr. joined his father-in-law Bill Wyman at the dealership. Mr. Horner Sr. assumed the title of President. During Mr. Horner's tenure, he was elected to the Ford National Dealer Council where he worked with the manufacturer's executive staff to resolve customer, dealership and manufacturer issues. In 1996, he became President of the New Jersey Automobile Dealer's Association (now NJ CAR) and in 1997 he was elected Time Magazine N.J. Dealer of the Year for his leadership within the industry and his community involvement.

In July of 1990, Lee Horner Jr. became the third generation to join Wyman Ford Inc. After extensive training in the Parts and Service Departments and graduating from the National Automobile Dealer's Academy, Lee Jr. joined the Wyman Sales Department. In 1998, he followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and father when he assumed the position of General Manager/Vice President of Wyman Ford of Maplewood.
